I hope everyone had a good & safe New Year’s celebration. A lot has happened around Clematis Street in the past few months including some of our local places closing.
- Tin Fish: Closed (December)
- The Bee: Moved to Island Bee at 261 Royal Poinciana Way Palm Beach
- Bar Louie: Closed
- Shout Karaoke: Closed
- Burger & Beer Joint (CityPlace): Closed
- Macy’s (CityPlace): Closing in March
There has been some hand-wringing on Facebook, and while it’s sad to see places you enjoyed visiting close, I believe that this is part of the downtown business cycle that we see at the beginning of each year. If you’re on Clematis for the Lunch or Dinner service you’ll see how packed it is, and how it’s been getting progressively busier over the last few years.
To give everyone something to look forward to, I’ve compiled a list of all the new exciting new places that are coming to the Clematis Street district.
Lost Weekend / The Lounge 500 Block
After several years since Lost Weekend closed on the 200 block, they are now preparing to open on the 500 block. The word is the The Lounge, which used to occupy the space that is currently Hullabaloo, will occupy the second floor.
Kapow at 519 Clematis Street
Delivering creative, edgy Asian food paired with colorful craft cocktails, Kapow! is poised to fill another gap in a downtown dining scene filled with pubs and martini bars. It may be small in stature in a tiny corner location in Boca’s entertainment district, but Kapow! looms large in the local restaurant and bar scene. Among the numerous honors bestowed over the past 4 1/2 years are “best new restaurant,” “best cocktail bar,” “best happy hour,” and “best restaurant” in various polls.
